Broilers

Our broilers are available fresh June-September and frozen with limited availability year- around. The baby chicks arrive at our farm when they are a day old. For their first 3 weeks, they stay under a heat lamp in a sheltered environment. They are provided fresh water and a special organic ration consisting of oats, corn, roasted soy beans/ black turtle beans, kelp and organic supplements. At approximately 3 weeks, the chicks are old enough to move onto our lush, organic pastures. Here, in a spacious portable shelter, they eat grass, plant seeds, insects, and their special organically certified ration. At 6 to 8 weeks, the broilers are ready for harvest. They are moved at nighttime (to limit stress) to Westover Wild Wings near Caro, MI. They arrive back at the farm a whole, perfectly cleaned broiler. They are then weighed and packaged in two gallon freezer bags. They may be picked up fresh or frozen at J-LAND FARM.
