A comparison of grassfed versus grainfed beef by Clemson University has found ten health advantages for consumers in the grassfed product. These are:
* Lower
in total fat
* Higher
in beta-carotene
* Higher
in vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol)
* Higher
in B-vitamins and riboflavin
* Higher
in calcium, magnesium and potassium
* Higher
in total omega 3s
* A
healthier ration of omega 3 to omega 6 fats (1.65 vs 4.85)
* Higher
in CLA (a potential cancer fighter)
* Higher
in vaccenic acid ( which can be transformed into CLA)
* Lower
in saturated fats linked with heart disease
